Basic Cervid Medicine: An Introduction and Overview

Don’t miss this session on basic and practical techniques on incorporating white-tailed deer into the general practice. Common procedures such as removing antlers, hoof trimming, castration, surgical correction of navel ill and anesthesia will be reviewed. Common infectious diseases of white-tailed deer, vaccination and health maintenance protocols will also be included. If time allows, the instructors will add an anesthetic demonstration and tour of the hoof stock restraint facility at the Winnie Carter Wildlife and Exotic Animal Center on the campus of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M.
