Speaker: Kevin Varner, DVM and Joe Garrett, DVM (USDA-APHIS representatives)
Location: Hilton Hotel (College Station)
As global markets expand and the expectations of our international trading partners increase, the role of the USDA accredited veterinarian is more important than ever. The incidence of emerging disease, especially zoonotic diseases, stress the important role accredited veterinarians have. In order to "Elect to Participate" and select an "Accreditation Category", accredited veterinarians must submit a VS Form 1-36A, National Veterinary Accreditation Program Application Form, by August 2, 2010 or his/her accreditation will expire. If you need clarification on the changes to the accreditation program, here's your chance. You will want to attend this session.

Trichomoniasis Certification Program
Speaker: Michael Mabry, DVM (TAHC)
Location: TAMU-CVM
The Texas Animal Health Commission is offering veterinarians the opportunity to learn the latest regulations and update their certification to test livestock for trichomoniasis. The second phase of the two-pronged program began January 1, 2010 which requires Texas breeding bulls offered for sale, lease, exhange or otherwise changing possession for breeding to be certified as virgin bulls or be tested negative for "trich". (No test or certification is required for bulls shipped or sold directly to slaughter.) If your practice is involved in treating livestock, this session is vitally important.
