A Committee to Foster Communications...

Complaints against TVMA members
The TVMA has an Ethics and Grievance Committee whose purpose is to mediate complaints against TVMA members. If you have a complaint against one of our members we would first encourage you to contact that veterinarian directly and discuss your grievance in person. Our members sincerely try to provide the very best possible veterinary care. Occasionally, clients are not satisfied with the service received. If you will bring your complaint to the attention of your veterinarian, this will provide the opportunity to resolve the issue and improve your relationship with that practice.

If you are unable to arrive at a satisfactory resolution, you may present your complaint to the TVMA Ethics and Grievance Committee. The Committee will initiate an investigation into your complaint by requesting a copy of the medical records and a narrative summary of the case from the veterinarian involved. We will then discuss your complaint as well as the doctor’s response and make recommendations.

If you wish to file a complaint against a TVMA member veterinarian you may contact:

Ellen Forsythe, CMP
512-452-4224
or fax 512-452-6633
or e-mail to eforsythe@tvma.org
or mail to 8104 Exchange Dr.Austin TX 78754

You will be requested to provide us, in narrative, typewritten form, a statement regarding the facts and circumstances surrounding your complaint for review by the committee. Please include a copy of medical records for your pet and any other pertinent documents to support your statement.

The TVMA is a voluntary organization, and we cannot take punitive actions or force any particular response. It is our goal to work together to assist our colleagues for the betterment of each individual as well as the profession. Our role is to try to resolve conflicts and promote open discourse between parties by offering an independent, third party opinion of the situation.
