DISEASE REPORTING, VETERINARY RESPONSIBILITIES
According to state law, Texas veterinarians shall report, after the first professional encounter, an animal examined that has or is suspected of having a reportable disease. Many of the communicable diseases that affect humans are zoonotic; therefore, the role of the veterinarian in disease reporting cannot be overemphasized.

LITERATURE SEARCHES ON VETERINARY TOPICS
This is a FREE site for searching for journal articles on scientific topics including veterinary medicine. You do not have to register with this site, but have the option to set up a FREE account if you want updated literature searches to be emailed to you on a weekly basis. To search a topic, click on the link below. Type a topic into the box by “for” and click “GO.” For example, run a search on “rabies” and 9,188 articles will be listed starting with the most currently available publications. This site also provides access to abstracts and in some cases full text articles published in journals.

Compendium of Animal Rabies Prevention and Control
The recommendations in this compendium serve as the basis for animal rabies prevention and control programs throughout the United States and facilitate standardization of procedures among jurisdictions, thereby contributing to an effective national rabies-control program. This document is reviewed annually and revised as necessary.
