Social and Networking Events

Social Events are not limited to conference attendees. If you are interested in purchasing tickets to ONLY a social event, simply check-off "Social Event Only" and indicate the number of tickets you wish to purchase for that event during the on line registration process or on the down loadable registration form then fax or mail the form, with payment, to the TVMA Office.

Cost: A complimentary box lunch will be served consisting of a turkey sandwich, chips and drink. You do not have to be registered for the conference to attend.
If you are attending the TVMA committee meetings and would like to attend this free lunch, just check 'social event only' and RSVP online. To ensure we have enough food, you must ask everyone RSVP online or on the conference registration form to obtain an entry ticket.  Luncheon limited to first 150 registrants. If there is availability at the door, people will be allowed to participate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Welcome Reception in the Exhibit Hall (Grand Ballroom, Hilton Hotel)
This welcome reception offers attendees a relaxing environment to visit with exhibiting companies while catching up with classmates and colleagues over appetizers and adult beverages. The TVMA Auxiliary will once again give away some great prizes. Participate in our passport game to win an iPad mini!

Member Appreciation and Mardi Gras Party,
The Texas Veterinary Political Action Committee (VPAC) is proud to host our first annual Member Appreciation and Mardi Gras Party, and we're pulling out all the stops! Swing on by for Creole food, spirits and wine, live Zydeco music from the Dr. Zog Band and—of course—beads! Come join the revelry as VPAC says, “Thank you!”

Veterinary students and interested practitioners are invited to participate in the TVMA Student-Practitioner Social, which will be held in the Mark Francis Room. A continental breakfast and drinks will be provided. Practitioners interested in hosting students for summer positions, internships and/or externships are asked to RSVP by email to Gaylon Wilmeth at  GZWilmeth@cvm.tamu.edu by Feb. 15, 2014.

Lunch with Chef Kevin (Cooking Demo/Wine Paring)
Sit back, sip on a tasty beverage all while watching Chef Kevin prepare your incredible lunch. Not only is the menu guaranteed to be gourmet, you will be taught how to recreate this 3-course meal at home. This culinary demonstration and lunch is limited to 30 participants. Bon appetit!

Awards and Installation Banquet (Oakwood Room, Hilton Hotel)
Members and guests are invited to honor extraordinary veterinarians who serve the profession through leadership and service in TVMA and their communities. This important event will recognize practitioners in several fields of practice as well as one special RVT. Several Heritage Awards winning clinics will also be given special acknowledgment. AVMA President, Dr. Clark Fobian, will address banquet attendees and install officers of the incoming TAVP Board of Directors and the TVMA Executive Committee.

Cost: $50 per person

TVMA President's "Wild, Wild West" Celebration and TVMF Auction Fundraiser (Grand Ballroom, Hilton Hotel)
Back in the old West, a wise cowboy said, "If you climb in the saddle, be ready for the ride." And a memorable ride is what we have in store for you at the 2014 TVMA President's Wild West Celebration. Incoming TVMA President Dr. Tracy Colvin and family welcome everyone to climb into the saddle for a whooping good time. This evening will stay true to its theme with live music, Armadillo races, mechanical bull riding, a quick draw competition and fabulous prizes. No one walks away empty-handed from this celebration as each guest will receive a cowboy hat that can be decorated to your taste or left plain. Please consider joining us for a night of wonderful family fun. 
Attire: Western Casual
Ticket Required: $25 per person, $45 per couple, $10 veterinary students 

TVMF Auction:
Get into the spirit of bidding at this year's silent auction benefiting TVMF, which will begin to accept bids on Saturday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m. during the Wild West Celebration. Be sure to buy your tickets early for the Wild West Celebration as you won't want to miss the excitement of the live auction! This year promises to be high energy with the  silent auction filled with spirited and generous bidders circling over great items such as hotel stays, veterinary supplies, artwork, jewelry and much, much more. Proceeds from the auction will go to TVMF. The Foundation is currently accepting donations for the silent auction (hunting trips, complimentary services, artwork, quilts, etc.). Employers who would like to prearrange interviews with fourth-year students should contact Linda Fillip at lfillip@cvm.tamu.edu or call 979/845-3878.  Linda will set up the interviews in advance upon completion and return of the interview request form on the back of the conference registration form. A registration form/interview form can be downloaded HERE.
