Pet Bereavement Support
Dealing with the loss of a pet is never easy. Our animals are our companions and we understand how difficult this time is. In an effort to help deal with the loss, we are pleased to offer the following resources for grief counseling:
Bereavement Specialist, Hospice Austin
Provides free one-on-one non-therapeutic telephone support
Austin Humane Society Pet Loss Support Group
Provides a free support group for people who have lost a pet, or are contemplating a euthanasia decision. Provides emotional support and educational assistance during the grief process. Meets in the Austin Humane Society conference room. The group is facilitated by dedicated staff and volunteers.

ASPCA Pet Loss Hotline
Pet parents can receive help from the ASPCA Pet Loss Support program with the following issues:
Assistance with the decision to euthanize.
Comfort and support at the time of euthanasia.
Help with grieving the loss.
Advice on dealing with children, the elderly or disabled individuals who are facing a death of a companion animal.
Helping the surviving animals in the household to cope.
Assistance in establishing a relationship with a new pet.
