Peer-Assistance

Peer Assistance Program

In any given group of people, statistics show 10 percent will have an alcohol or drug addiction, i.e., chemical dependency. It is not a question of whether a person will be affected by substance abuse; the question is when. If you or someone you work with has a substance abuse (or mental health) problem, TVMA’s Peer Assistance Program can help. Professional Recovery Network (PRN) is a nationally recognized peer assistance program operated with strict confidentiality. PRN's goal is to help participants get the assistance they need so they can remain employed in veterinary medicine. The 24-hour helpline number is 800-727-5152. Calls made after 5 p.m. will be returned the next business morning. In case of emergency, please call 512-496-7247.
